Adam Puchta Winery

Adam Puchta WineryStep back in time at Hermann's newest old winery. In 1839 John Henry Puchta brought his wine making skills from his native Bavaria to the lush Frene Valley of central Missouri. The family planted vineyards, then built a home and a traditional arched cellar. Until Prohibition destroyed the wine industry, the Adam Puchta Winery was recognized for its quality wines. Since Prohibition, the winery property was maintained as a small farm by several Puchta generations. After many years of thought and research, the fifth and sixth generation of Puchtas began replanting the vineyards and restoring the original buildings. The Adam Puchta Winery, having reopened in 1989, is once again producing fine wines of world class stature with the ambiance of old family tradition.
